Goodreads Summery:      "I made a  promise to protect you."But pregnant Ali Silver’s husband broke his vow and walked away from her. After being injured in combat, Jericho has finally come home to Bitterroot Valley to make peace with his father and regain Ali’s trust. But the single mom’s keeping secrets of her own. And someone’s killing off Ali’s cattle and sabotaging her horse therapy business. Jericho will do whatever it takes to protect his wife and be a real father to his son. Because when it comes to love and second chances, he’s one determined cowboy.

Ali Silver is trying to keep her ranch going. She has a son who she loves and will do anything for. One day the man she married the man who left her seven years ago shows back up in her life demanding he is back for good and wants to be her husband again. She tells him to forget about it but he keeps trying and slowly she starts to trust him again and with weird things happening at her ranch that threaten to destroy everything she has worked for she finds herself needing him.

Jericho has hoped that Ali would take him back with open arms but he finds no such invitation. He vows to Ali he will prove to her he will not leave again that he is a changed man. Can he protector her from the person trying to harm her ranch and win her heart back as well?

Over all this was a good book and I enjoyed it. It was a love story with some suspense thrown in which made for a good mix.

What I liked: The book had a good plot and I liked the characters. I thought the subplot with the vandalism to the ranch and who was doing it was well weaved into the story and I found myself wondering who was causing the issues. Ali had been through a lot so far in her life and I enjoyed watching her grow and change as the story went along. I also enjoyed the ending I felt a little surprised when I found out who was behind the troubles Ali was having and the added twist to the plot made it a good ending.

What I did not like: Jericho did not know he was the father of Ali’s son at first. This is a fine as other books have used this kind of a plot before but I felt it took to long for Ali to tell him. By the time the moment arrived it was kind of old news and took away from the plot a little.

Over all this was a good book and a solid first book for the author. I am curious if she might write another book about some of the side characters in this book at some point. If you like cowboys and romance check this book out!
